Chocolate is the "new green vegetable"

Anastasia, from Oregon, writes:
Dear Norma Jeanne:
Are you a vegetarian?

Dear Anastasia:
For heaven's sake, NO!  Vegetables have their place, no doubt, but I have learned that eating broccoli isn't the only way to get the benefits that come from dark green vegetables.  Do you know about chocolate?  Chocolate is made from plants that contain flavonoids, which act as antioxidants.  You must know the benefits of antioxidants in preventing aging and heart disease and, of course, as mood elevators.
Bon appetito!

  1. This is very interesting. Do you think this means that I can eat unlimited amounts of chocolate in place of that big salad I usually have for lunch? Just wondering . . . and hoping!

  2. Now don't be foolish, Quogue Mom. Everything in moderation is still, and always will be the key! Eat your salad and just save your chocolate for dessert. I recommend organic strawberries dipped in dark chocolate as an extra vitamin-packed dessert!
